Women are still underrepresented in STEM fields. While many blame the pipeline instead of workplace culture, it's not an either-or situation, and there's no shortage of anecdotal evidence that tech can be a hostile place for women.

As a final note, racial minorities are also significantly underrepresented in STEM fields. Unfortunately, it is much more challenging to predict the race/ethnicity demographics of an event than it is gender, so that's outside of Demograph's scope for now. But I don't want to underplay the importance of this issue.
